Heidi Turner

The short version: I am a writer, musician, and podcaster from Maui, Hawai’i, now living on the seacoast of New Hampshire.
I love narrative in its every form.

Writer

If nothing else, I love telling stories and creating spaces of (and for) emotional experience, reflecting the great cosmic wonder of time and space (in other words, the divine comedy). I’ve published quite a few short stories, poems, and academic book reviews, written a youth musical and several youth-oriented sketches for performance, and reflected the day-to-day back in a weekly poem project and blog.

My debut collection of linked stories, The Sacred Art of Trespassing Barefoot, won the 2019 Heritage Future Great Story Project and was published by Heritage Future.

Musician

Almost as soon as I started playing guitar (and long before I was any good at it), I was songwriting. While most of my work has been in text-based mediums, my past work in theater and love of music-making has kept me coming back to songwriting, composing, recording, and (recently) production. Podcaster

In 2018, I teamed up with Rory Delaney and we made a podcast celebrating all things books, movies, and music (in that order). Then, in 2019, I started telling the stories of the Bible with all of the wonder and weird (that so often gets taken out in Sunday school) put back in.
